Braga Youth Centre supports health professionals again
Five months after the end of the overnight programme dedicated to health professionals at the Braga Youth Centre, the unit once again opens its doors to those on the frontline of the fight against COVID-19. The programme runs until 31 January.
After ensuring about 1000 overnight stays for doctors (44%), nurses (44%) and auxiliary staff (12%), during the first pandemic wave, Braga Municipality and InvestBraga give again the possibility to health professionals to stay, free of charge, in 26 rooms of the Braga Youth Centre.
For Ricardo Rio, Mayor of Braga City Council and InvestBraga, this measure "emerges as necessary at a time when there has been a growing trend of Sars-Cov-2 infections. The pressure of COVID-19 patients on hospitals and health centres has been increasing and we need to clearly support all those who have put aside their well-being for the sake of our health".
Carlos Silva, director of InvestBraga, highlights that "our mission is to be beside the community, especially in such a delicate moment as this one, so it is natural to reactivate this dynamic, which is part of the social responsibility program of Braga City Hall and InvestBraga".
Pedro Soares, responsible for the Braga Youth Centre, also highlights that "the equipment is prepared to meet the needs of health professionals, allowing to support, as it happened between March and May, all those who choose not to contact physically with their families".
Health professionals interested in accessing the accommodation should contact the Braga Youth Centre through the email address cjb@investrabaga.com or by phone 253 148 682.
