As one of the high points of the São João Festival programme, the International Giant and big-headed papier machê Festival has become a real success in Portugal and abroad.
During the meeting, the city of Braga receives "gigantones and cabeçudos" from all over the Iberian Peninsula and from other European countries, attracting around two thousand participants for a unique event.
With this spectacle, thousands of people gather in the streets, watching with attention the fun and clumsy dances of the giants and the ghostly airs of the big-headed papier machê.
In order to integrate, in the present, some of the traditions that were part of the São João festivities of the past, in 2014 the Serpe, a giant serpent made of rags, personified by a few dozen extras, was integrated in this procession.
Located a few minutes walking from the Historic Centre of the city, Braga's Youth Centre is a multipurpose space that offers versatile and confortable accommodations, suitable for every age group.
