Braga’s Ancient Castle/ Dock Tower

The Braga’s Ancient Castle/ Dock Tower, considered a National Monument since 1910, belonged to the old Braga Castle, and is now the only remaining part of it.

Situated at the highest point of the medieval town, it has a coat of arms of King Fernando. The castle is referred to in documents from the early 14th century, although its construction took place after the 1369 invasions.

Demolished in 1906, the old Braga Castle contained a total of six towers of which some vestiges are still visible.
Although is the only one visible, there are still numerous sections of the old castle that have been reused by the surrounding buildings.
