Basilica of the Congregates
The Basilica of the Congregates is located on Central Avenue and is considered an 18th-century religious temple.
Also known as Convent, College and Church of the Congregates, it was considered by Eduardo Pires de Oliveira as "one of the masterpieces of Braga and Portuguese art", having, in his opinion, "one of the most extraordinary facades and exciting works of Portuguese Baroque".
Construction began in 1703, and it was blessed on 27 October 1717.
Since March 15, 1975, the Basilica of the Congregates has held the title of Minor Basilica, a title designed by the Holy See. This place is also classified as Property of Public Interest since the year 1993.
