Nogueira da Silva Museum
The Nogueira da Silva Museum was created from a legacy donated by António Augusto Nogueira da Silva to the University of Minho in 1975.
The building dates back to the sixties of the 20th century, with collections of paintings, sculptures made up of foreign and Portuguese works from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, with exclusively religious themes.
The Museum has been diversifying its activity with a small team that takes care of the maintenance of the house and garden, an educational service aimed at creating in the youngest the taste and respect for creative beauty, makes available and divulges the collection of the Photographic Library and the Art History Library, promotes cycles of conferences and debates oriented towards the understanding of art and welcomes and promotes concerts of various musical expressions.
The spirit of the collector remains in the Museum and the delivery of the estate of the writer Maria Ondina Braga to the Museum, triggered a project that leads visitors to the museum and the garden.
