D. Diogo de Sousa Archaeology Museum

The D. Diogo de Sousa Archaeology Museum, created in 1918 and revitalised in 1980, is an archaeology museum, open to the public since 2007 in a building constructed from scratch.

Its collections are essentially made up of holdings resulting from archaeological research carried out in the north of the country. Its collection covers a vast chronological and cultural period, from the Palaeolithic to the Middle Ages.

Organised into four large sections, the museum's exhibition covers the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic, Neolithic, Chalcolithic, Bronze Age and Iron Age.

From a geographical point of view, the area of provenance of these collections comes from the Minho region, although other collections are from the time of Bracara Augusta and the territory around it.
